Dear diary, | Madeleine Avery

About the Artist

Madeleine, a University of Guelph Studio Art graduate, is currently working in arts administration. Her current work delves into themes of nostalgia for the past and romanticism of the future, achieved through a blend of diaristic text and domestic forms. Symbols such as flowers, windows, suns, and stars often appear in her art, representing various childhood memories and past experiences. In this collection, she blends printmaking with painting and drawing, using these mediums to record her thoughts, dreams, and wishes in a diaristic way for herself. These thoughts can be unfinished, ever-changing, and occasionally perplexing. That's ok, she's just figuring it out like everyone else.
