Recreating a cherished childhood painting, “Restoration” serves as a nostalgic exploration, bridging the simplicity of early artistic expressions with the nuanced perspectives of adulthood. This process becomes a canvas for rediscovery, a visual tribute to the passion ignited in early childhood paying homage to tradition while infusing contemporary layers of meaning.
"Restoration" is a deliberate act of personal reinvention, a celebration of resilience, diversity, and the empowering capacity of reconnecting with one's roots. Through this exhibition, I invite viewers to witness the profound transformation of identity, embracing the past to forge a vibrant, authentic artistic future.
About the Artist
Ama Liyanage is a watercolour artist and printmaker crafting whimsical paintings from her home studio in Kitchener, ON. She draws inspiration from cherished childhood memories in Sri Lanka and the simple, often overlooked joys of everyday life.
Having nurtured a fondness for jigsaw puzzles since her early years, Ama revels in the intricacies and hidden nuances that sometimes link her paintings together. She takes great pleasure in the thought of perceptive observers discovering the minuscule painted details in her artwork, each one narrating a story or invoking a touch of humour.
She embarked on an exploration of rediscovering creativity in adulthood and the transformative journey of embracing art as a vocation. This journey began with a reflection on the power of relaxation, a departure from the years spent wrestling with the notion of self-worth tethered solely to productivity. Through her canvases, Ama proudly amplifies the voices of women of colour, reclaiming spaces historically devoid of their representation.

Vào cái là thấy họ chia nội dung theo từng khối rõ ràng, nhìn cái mục lục là biết đang có những phần nào để nhảy nhanh, đỡ phải cuộn mỏi tay. Mình cũng để ý họ có đoạn cập nhật theo ngày giờ ngay đầu bài nên cảm giác thông tin được làm mới liên tục, không bị kiểu bài cũ để đó. Chữ không bị dày đặc, khoảng trắng vừa đủ nên đọc lướt cũng dễ bắt ý. Nói chung trải nghiệm kiểu xem nhanh khá ổn, nhất là phần bố cục dạng khối…
keonhacai tv dạo này mình mới ghé thử vì thấy mấy ông bạn gửi qua, tưởng đâu rối mà vào lại khá dễ nhìn. Trang ưu tiên cái bảng kèo nên vừa mở lên là thấy ngay, kiểu bố cục thoáng chứ không nhồi chữ. Mình hay xem nhanh trước giờ bóng lăn nên thích chỗ họ chia theo giờ trận đấu, có cả cột cả trận với hiệp 1 nhìn một phát là nắm được. Lướt xuống dưới còn có đoạn giải thích “kèo nhà cái là gì” viết gọn gàng, đọc vài phút là hiểu cơ bản, hợp người mới. Mình không ngồi nghiên cứu lâu, chỉ cảm giác kéo trang mượt và thông tin được xếp thành…
