"Growing up the cottage was my happy place and a constant in my life. ‘No place like home’ attempts to capture the peace and beauty of the cottage. From the soft waves on the beach, to the rippling flames on the bonfire, the cottage brought me balance and safety. ‘No place like home’ is an encapsulation of the textures and colours of the cottage. Using hand stretched raw canvas as a base, I use a variety of mediums to create balanced and vibrant compositions that bring a sense of calm, safety and excitement. Some works from ‘No place like home’ are hand framed with the help of my excellent dad Paul."
About the Artist
Suria is an abstract expressionist artist working primarily on hand stretched raw canvas. Suria’s creative process focuses mainly on art as playtime, through the use of a variety of mediums such as acrylic paint, oil pastels, pencils, spray paint and anything she can get her hands on. In her work, Suria attempts to create balance and dynamic movement with shapes, lines, and texture.
